Rein Teen Tours For the past 7 summers I've prepared food for about 50 kids from all over the U.S., Canada and Beyond. Each summer is a different itinerary packed with visits to National Parks, Adventures Parks, Olympic Parks, Themed Parks and more! The kids travel with 5 adult chaperones (usually teachers who are off for the summer), and one coach bus driver with me trailing behind or speeding ahead in a Penske truck outfitted with six of the biggest coolers you'll find for housing cold food, pvc pipes creating shelves for dry food and of course the camping equipment! The first week is usually camping, as the kids get to know each other in the comfort of the outdoors...sometimes too left to experience the great outdoors including rain and sunshine. They learn to pitch tents, roast smores and get along with 49 new friends! It's such a blast to see the relationships blossom from Day 1 to Day 40! I'm hired on as the chef or "cook" for the days that we are camping. Usually there is a hotdog/hamburger meal to kick start the journey (aka comfort food) and then by day 3 we get into the fun stuff--like sushi out of a truck!? Each summer the kids have different allergens and dietary patterns to address, but it's always fun. Who doesn't love cooking and traveling?? Pictures coming soon!
