Now Announcing the 2017 Transformation Challenge!
What is it? The past two years we have created a platform for you to learn about the foundations of your health and wellness through a daily challenge group. Individuals follow guided meal and exercise plans while being exposed to different educational topics daily. They are encouraged to participate in each day's challenge to earn bonus points towards a grand prize at the end of the 8 weeks. The person(s) with the most daily challenge complete will win $200. If there is a tie, the tie breaker will be based on final transformation statements submitted by each person reflecting on the things they learned and experienced the last 8 weeks. Each week there is a bonus challenge with a special prize from one of our sponsors. You don't have to be local to win, I will send the prizes to you. There are no requirements on who can participate, where they can participate from and no limitations on how much you can win. There will be optional "meet-ups" in Denver, that will supplement topics we are discussing. The meetups will be recorded, but unfortunately, not live (reception errors in the past took away from the participants enjoyment). Can I participate again if I have done past Transformation Challenges? YES! Of course, research information is constantly being exposed and I am able to present things in new light, as well as provide clearer thoughts, after listening to feedback from previous groups. The prizes and challenges are all completely different, so you will continue to be challenged. What else is different this year? To encourage participants to stay motivated, each week that is fully completed, the participant will receive $5 of their registration back. That means I will be paying YOU to learn! Who are the sponsors this year? We have some awesome companies supporting our participants and their goals! Some of them include: MusclePharm, FieldRoast, Chobani, MaxMuscle and a few others TBA! How much does it cost to register? $100 Registration fee, with $40 back if you complete all 8 weeks What do I have to do? Each day you will be emailed your daily topic and challenge with complete details explaining what you should do and how it relates to your health and wellness. Maggie will keep track of each person's participation. You will also be given a series of documents to guide your fitness and nutrition regiment throughout the 8 weeks. In the past, these plans were customized, however, this year you will be given the tools and space to create your own sustainable plans How much time do I need to commit to this? That is completely up to you. Each daily challenge should only take 10-20 minutes to complete. However, there are some topics you may find more interesting and want to devote more time towards. What has worked well for past participants, is to read the emails and answer first thing in the morning. It is great to get into a routine so you don't miss anything or fall behind; each daily topic is important in it's own way. There are a few scattered "catch up" days throughout the challenge months, to give you the time and space to go back and finish anything you may have missed or wish to dedicate more time on. I'm on board! What's next? After you register, you will be sent a readiness questionnaire that needs to be completed and returned to Maggie before the start of the challenge on January 1st. After this is completed and returned, Maggie will send you the series of files needed to guide you through the next two months. Easy as that! You will read through and familiarize yourself with the information. How is this a group thing? We will also have participants welcomed into a private Facebook group where they can share thoughts, inspiration, and best of all have a bunch of new virtual friends! If you don't have Facebook, it's not a problem, all information will also be sent to your email address. Make sure the email address you provide is one that you have access to everyday during the challenge months (not a work email). We are excited to have you on board and welcome in the New Year strong and confident! Please feel free to reach out to Maggie directly if you have questions or concerns: [email protected] or sign up here: http://www.mezclamaggie.com/challenge-competitions.html

Eating the right fats will keep you full, tame your blood sugar levels and keep your abdomen trim. Most of the time people think if they eat fats, they will get fat. While the truth is really much more complex than that.
We need healthy fats to keep our hormones in check, to keep our body temperature in line, to help us absorb fat soluble nutrients and vitamins, just to name a few! The most important thing to note is where your fats are coming from. If you are looking to avoid fats because you think they will make you fat—then you should be avoiding trans fats which are found in all fried foods. Similarly, if you look at the ingredient lists on pre-packed snack items like chips and peanut butter filled cracker sandwiches, you will often see "partially hydrogenated" or "hydrogenated" oils. These are up there on the list of "bad" fats because they are chemically processed so that your food lasts FOREVER, literally. Ever hear about the experiment to see if a McDonald's burger depreciated after time? Yeah...it stayed the EXACT same form shape everything about 6 months! Imagine that inside of you. No wonder you're stomach isn't getting smaller. Believe it or not, up until recently there wasn’t even a daily recommendation for how much fat we should consume in our diets. Now, however, that percentage is recommended to be around 25% of our caloric intake should be from healthy fats. So what's a healthy fat? Rich in monounsaturated fats and unsaturated fats. you know, things like coconut oil, avocado, cheese, natural peanut butter, butter. Have the real deal, not something man made and processed. We NEED fat to function, so don't avoid it, that won't help. Eat it, and the right kinds. Data shows that while Americans consumed a lower percentage of calories from fat in 2000 than they did in 1971, the total number of calories consumed per day increased by more than 300! Here's a fun and delicious recipe with REAL HEALTHY FATS, fiber and nutrients! Cauliflower Mac & Cheese (Ketogenic Diet Friendly)
Assemble all ingredients. You may flash the cauliflower in boiling water if you wish for a more tender "mac n cheese," otherwise chop into small pieces and spread in baking dish. In small saucepan combine butter, milk and mustard. Heat slowly while whisking ingredients till combined. slowly add in the shredded cheese and spices. When this mixture has all come together, pour over cauliflower and bake in preheated over at 375 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Take out and enjoy! To Many Cultures Haldi Ka Doodh, also known as "Golden Milk", is a staple. "Tumeric is an incredibly powerful anti-inflammatory & anti-oxidant herb. Tumeric has been shown to detoxify the liver, assist in the removal of mucus, lower cholesterol, help to manage weight, treat IBS, provide iron, and and is a wonderful herbal remedy for the treatment of stiff, sore, arthritic, or inflamed joints. Studies suggest it could be useful in preventing cancers, heart disease, type 2 diabetes. It is also a digestive tonic, antiseptic, antiparasitic, astringent, pain reliever, blood purifier, wound healer, kidney-stone dissolver, eczema treatment, and more." (Taken From Sara Vance's Blog check it out if you haven't yet. She has shifted her life from obesity to Foggy brain, Low Fat, Diet Soda Diet to whole food and thriving!) There is an obvious virtue to this milk. It has been concluded that by incorporating turmeric, with the active chemical Curcumin, that there are effects of antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, anticancer and neuroprotective activities. It is limited though, especially for humans, in it's ability when taken orally and doesn't properly absorb. That's why in this recipe, we have included Fresh ground pepper.(so don't leave it out!:)) Black pepper stimulates the taste buds to tell your stomach to digest! it works with the proteins and other food to increase hydrochloric acid, when this is low we are unable to properly digest and often have gas, irritation, bloat and possible diarrhea or constipation. Recipe for Golden Milk Step 1: Turmeric Paste: 1/4 cup of organic turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon of organic ground pepper 1/2 cup of filtered water Directions: Mix all ingredients in a small a small sauce pan and mix well. Turn the heat to medium high and stir constantly until the mixture is a thick paste. This does not take long so don’t walk away from the pan. Let this mixture cool and then keep it in a small jar in the fridge. The longer it stays in the fridge the less effective it is so be sure to use it within a few weeks at the longest. Step 2: Golden Milk Ingredients: 1 cup of organic milk (almond/hemp/coconut are good options) 1 teaspoon of organic coconut oil 1/4 teaspoon or more of turmeric paste Organic honey Warm mixture in small sauce pan to desired temperature. Or enjoy chilled!:) Let us know what you think in the comments below. |
